2022 HFC Carol Run2022-12-22 - After a two year hiatus, 22 HFC Carolers made spirits bright, on the streets of Boston last night, singing, laughing and dashing all the way.

HFC At USATF-NE XC Championship2022-11-06 - HFC had a great turnout and fielded teams for open men, masters men, and women teams. 3rd place open and masters womens team, 11th place open mens team, 2nd place masters mens, 3rd place mens seniors, and 2nd place veterans team. Great racing by everyone! HFC And The Wayland XC Festival2022-10-11 - Competition and Community - thats what both HFC and the Wayland XC Festival are about. A fantastic day to welcome over 600 youth and adult runners to our course. Thanks to all of our volunteers and athletes for making our races happen. HFC At Brown Bear XC2022-10-02 - HFC Men and Women teams competed and placed in the Brown Bear XC Meet. Team results TBA. HFC Off To Great Start at USATF-NE XC2022-09-11 - Fantastic start to the USATF-NE XC GP this morning at Great Brook Park! Congrats to our Open Women and 40+ Men and Womens Teams on their victories this morning. More team results TBA. HFC In The Money At BHZ 5k!2022-08-28 - Great turnout by HFC at BHZ Pub Series race with many people finishing in the money for their age groups including Sean K(7th/3rd), Mike Daniels((10th/1st)), Brian McCarthy(13th/3rd)) Christina Campbell(2nd), Nicky(4th/1st), Erin(5th/1st), Lilly (7th/2nd), Lee Peterson(8th), Meg Jacobs(3rd). Good HFC turnout for runners and volunteers. 454 overall finishers! Great Turnout For HFC at Bobby Doyle Classic2022-08-15 - HFC had a great day at the Bobby Doyle Classic 5 Miler and brought full teams in almost all age groups. The mens team was led by Chris Garvin in 26:23 and the women by Lauren Tarvin in 30:38. Official results have not yet been posted but early results show our male masters and seniors winning and our female masters and seniors both finishing second. Male 60+ finished 4th.
Both of our open teams were supported by masters or seniors - the men's open was 6th with 3 masters scoring and the women's open was 3d supported by a master and a senior scoring. HFC Women Sweep at Rally 4 Sally2022-07-04 - Great day for HFC with Sophie, Lily, Christina Sweeney, and Lee Peterson sweeping the top 4 in the womens race! Great day for the men too with many placing including Mike DiTocco 3rd overall, Jason Cakouros 4th(1st 50-59), Chris Canning 6th (2nd 30-39), Rob Sheehan 2nd 19-29,T-Vo 3rd 40-49, Paul Corcoran 2nd 60+. Congratulations also to Christina Campbell on her 1st place female at the Hingham 4th of July Race, and Sean Kineavy 2nd overall at the Norwood Firecracker 5k! Click here for race results HFC Team 2nd At SRR 26x1 Mile Relay2022-06-26 - HFC came out in force at one of our favorite team events at the SRR 26x1 mile relay, placing 2nd in a time of 2:25:02.4.
First place Cambridge Running Club was first in 2:22:31 with a much younger team. It was a great, well organized event with many striders running and cheering the runners. Great performances by everyone! The 13 men averaged just over 5:05 per mile, and the 13 women averaged just under 6:00 per mile. HFC Supports The Greenspan Family at Emmas Run2022-05-02 - A fantastic race by a fantastic family for a fantastic cause! HFC had a great turnout to support the Greenspan family at Emmas Run. Big sea of green on the course! Great first place for Nick and Christina Campbell too. Congratulations to Adam and his family, friends, and volunteers who put on a great race and for including all of us in remembrance of Emma Greenspan. HFC Big Day At The James Joyce2022-04-27 - HFC had a big turnout at the masters USATF race with top 10 placings by Chris Garvin(5th) and Christina Campbell(8th). Awesome running in the open race by Nick Green (6th) and Sophie (2nd). More club records fall with Bob McCormack crushing the 10k veteran club record and Sophie the womens open record. Great racing by everyone and great cheering along the course. Congratulations Boston Marathoners!2022-04-20 - Great performances by our HFC marathon team at Boston! 12 Striders competed this year and many more cheering on the course and HFC Corner. One huge PR and HFC club record for Lauren Tarvin! Congratulations everyone!
HFC Corner 10th Edition!!2022-04-15 - "HFC Corner has made it to its first serious milestone, serendipitously and easily divisible by HFCs major MAJOR Milestone! While it is a short turnaround from the 9th ed. of the Corner to the 10th, lets ratchet up the energy a notch this year as we sync back to our regular April meeting time a few hundred yards past the Newton Fire station. For the 10th year in a row we will claim our territory on Comm Ave, cheer on our squad and others who begin their speedy march towards Heartbreak, the Citgo sign and running glory at the finish line." Setup begins at 7:30am and people are encourage to get there by 10:30am. See the discussion page for a planned early run as well as the Google List to plan what foods to bring. HFC Impressive Racing in New Bedford Half!2022-04-13 - Impressive results for HFC at USATF #1 at the New Bedford Half. 18 striders toed the line with many great success stories! Mens open team 13/28, women open 8/22, women masters 5/19, women seniors 4/16. Great 5:30 PR and new club record for Lauren Tarvin in 1:22:57, 1:07 PR for Tim Gavin in 1:15:07, and an impressive 4th fastest half for Steve Curley in 1:11:55. Awesome job everyone! Great XC Racing For HFC At USATF-NE XC Championship!2021-11-07 - HFC had a great XC day with one of its largest XC teams, with 15 women and 25 men competing, plus many more spectating and volunteering.
The womens team placed 5th Open, 3rd W40, and 3rd W50.
The mens open team placed 9th, the men's masters team placed 2nd, M50+ 3rd, M60+ 2nd.
Congratulations on a great race and great overall XC season!
Outstanding evening At The Martin Richard Mile2021-08-21 - It was a great night for all at the 7th annual Martin Richard Mile.
Strong showing by A strong showing in the Mens Heat with Fast Eddie (5:01), Bob McCormack(5:06 HFC Veteran record), TJ(pacer), Justin(5:23), TVo(5:56), Chris Diehl (6:50) & Corky(6:41).
The highlight of the evening were the youth races with the HFC youngsters running the womens youth mile: 1st Kieara Serrano(6:38), 2nd Natalie Unger(7:24), 4th Emma Finkel(8:07).
Solid team support all evening from Yaneth, Raul, Ed, and Dan F. Many thanks to Bryan, YES, and his fantastic support team including Steve V, Jim OB as well as HFCs Muldoon Brothers, Danny Hart & Chris Wargo.
Great Night at HFC Handicap Mile2021-07-26 - Great racing by the striders at the annual HFC handicap road mile! Lauren is the overall winner with Tim Gavin less than a second behind. Overall, fastest times of the day for the guys went to Andy with a 4:45 and Sophie with a 5.23.4 time. Both Lauren(5:27.6) and Sophie(5:23.4) break the womens road mile record (pending official review). Many thanks to Tim Resker for hosting a great Founders Day BBQ/Convention following the race.
HFC Strong Return to Road Racing At Rally 4 Sally2021-07-04 - Great turnout for HFC at the Dedham 4th of July Road Race! Our first big road race since last year with over 20 striders racing plus spectators. Strong 2nd place finish for Mike DiTocco and 3rd place and 1st master TJ, 1st senior Jason, 1st veteran Corky, womens winner Sophie, 1st master woman Lee Peterson at her debut wearing the HFC green singlet! HFC Grand Prix Series - On The Track!2021-07-01 - HFC runners recently competed in the track portion of the Grand Prix consisting of the 2 mile, 1 mile, and the 800. The stands were packed! Great turnout and amazing performances with many PRs including Pat Kelly(10 seconds in the mile), Mike DiTocco(15 seconds in the mile), plus Lauren Tarvin and Sophie Boudette both breaking the HFC 800 record.

Wednesday Night Track WorkoutsAt Xaverian High School at 6:00pm and run a coached track workout. All are invited to run. Saturday Morning WorkoutStarting January 7, 2023. At the Willett school in Norwood at 9:00am for a mix of long runs, tempo, and long intervals.
Lauren Tarvin 1st HFC Woman to Run Sub 3 at Houston!2023-01-16 - Breaking news out of Houston: Lauren Tarvin CRUSHED her own club record and PR to run 2:57:35. This makes her the first HFC woman to break 3 hours in the marathon and the official HFC Marathon Queen 👑 Nikki Wins the Paddys Pub Road Race2022-10-21 - Big win for Nikki Nelson at Paddys Pub Shillelagh Shuffle 3 miler! 1st female in a time of 17:50 with Hallie 8 seconds back. She is 4 seconds off the HFC club record held by Meaghan Scaerbo set in 2005 at the same race. She joins a small distinguished group of winners from HFC including Christina Campbell, TJ, Lee, Jason Cakouros, and possibly Meaghan Scaerbo. Awesome racing!! Congratulations! Mike Daniels Top Master At the Hartford Marathon2022-10-20 - Congratulations to Mike Daniels who is the 1st place master at the Harford Marathon in a time of 2:41:52! Congratulations Lauren For Marathon HFC Record2022-04-22 - Congratulations to Lauren Tarvin on her marathon PR and new HFC Club record at the 2022 Boston Marathon! Lauren raced hard and struggled in the later stages of the race and still came close to sub-3 with a 3:00:44 and breaks the club record by almost 2 minutes! Go Lauren! Congratulations Lauren for huge half marathon PR at New Bedford!2022-04-06 - Congratulations to Lauren Tarvin for setting a 5 1/2 minute PR at the New Bedford Half and shattering the HFC club record by 2:30! She ran 1:22:57 and placed 13th female overall. Awesome job! More to come at the Boston Marathon!!
Congratulations to Bob McCormack scoring 2 Gold Medals at USATF Indoor Championship at NYC2022-03-22 - Bob McCormack runs a super fast 2:16.6 for the GOLD Medal 60-64 800 Meters (Split 35-34-33-32).
Bob then runs an incredible 4:55.8 for the GOLD Medal 60-64 Mile. He was second in the heat to the Swedish World Record Holder. Bob's time is the 3rd fastest indoors and the 3rd fastest male. This is a big deal! Congratulations Bob!
TJ finishes indoor season with gold at USATF Masters Indoor Championships2022-03-22 - TJ hit gold at the championship weekend at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships at the Armory in NYC. He ran 9:01.0 for the GOLD Medal in the 40-44 3000, running 63.2 in the last 400 with a come from behind win in a kick!
He also ran the mile in 4:28.8 for 4th 40-44. And he also ran 2:03.4 for the Silver Medal 40-44 800. Congratulations! Erin Brown NER Athlete Of The Month!2021-11-13 - Congratulations to Erin for a being selected New England Runner Athlete of the Month! Lots of great achievements in 2021 from her masters win at Bobby Doyle and Lone Gull, F40 record at BHZ, female winner at Liam Maguires, and a 10th overall at the USATF Masters XC 5k Championship! Sophie sets new 800 meter record!2021-07-01 - There were no less than 25 WOW Moments at the HFC 800 championship last Saturday. One moment, however, stood out above all others as new teammate Sophie Boudette obliterated the open 800 club record of 2:34.62, lowering it to an amazingly fast 2:20.6! Sophie ran a tactically perfect race, sitting just off the pace and then kicked by two leading competitors in the last 150 meters to win the heat and set a new PR and oh that club record. Congrats Sophie! |
