HFC has Successful XC Season
2020-12-16 - The HFC Striders had a wildly successful, safe, and fun cross-country season in 2020. While many events were cancelled across the country, HFC staged a dual meet with GBTC, ran the socially distanced Mayors Cup, and the similarly staged USATFNE-XC Championship in Nashua, NH. The team then competed in a unique 14 team XC relay event in Franklin Park. XC business as usual. The open men showed promise early in the season and then the women shined in an HFC best-ever fourth place at the Mayors Cup. The women were then looking to make a statement in Nashua at the USATFNE XC Championships where the race would also serve as the de facto HFC GP Championship with our fabulous women all bunched up at the top of the leaderboard. Unfortunately, last minute pandemic restrictions reduced our participation as well as the field size in general. Undeterred, our female depth then MADE A STATEMENT anyway, winning the Masters race, the Seniors race and taking second place overall! Now that is a Wow Moment! Congratulations Team!
HFC Wins at the SRR Virtual 26 x 1 Mile Relay
2020-06-18 - Congratulations to the HFC Striders for their first place at the Virtual 26x1 mile relay! We had 12 extra runners who also competed and ran their 1 virtual mile during the competition week for a total of 38 runners for awesome team participation! A Virtual craft beer celebration will be enjoyed by all!
HFC's Social Distance Series Is a Huge Success!
2020-06-16 - A big thank you to Steve Curley and Christine Howe for their creativity and countless hours in creating and organizing the first ever HFC Social Distance Series (SDS). The series ran for 7 weeks and included challenges ranging from virtual racing events such as a mile or 5k, most miles run in 24 hours, virtual relay team races(including a marathon team relay), running streaks, alphabet street runs, trivia contests, virtual hiking, virtual planking, virtual social hours, etc. Great motivation to run as well as staying connected socially as a club during the pandemic. Congratulations to George as top male winner who put in some crazy miles (twice) for his 24 hour challenge, and to top winner Rachel who competed strongly in every challenge! The series had 34 participants and some notable accomplishments including Colarado George running 50.02 miles in 24 hours, Nikki Nelson running 42 miles (in 24 hours) on her day off from work as a nurse during a health crisis, Nicole Hamilton-Egan running 3 personal bests, Keelin hitting mileage goals week in and out, and Tim Gavin the crazy neighbor in Barcelona running around his house during the pandemic stay-at-home order in Spain. Way to go HFC!!

According to the World Masters Rankings website current rankings in the 40-44 age category have T.J. Unger\'s mile time second in the U.S., his 3000 meter time first in the U.S., and his 400 meter time second in the U.S. In the 50-54 age group, Tim Hoff\'s 800 meter time ranks second in the U.S., while Jason Cakouros\' 800 time ranks fourth in the U.S. and his 3000 meter time second in the U.S. Mike Daniel\'s mile time is also in the top ten in the U.S., 40-44 age group; and Tim Hoff\'s mile time is fifteen in the U.S., 50-54 age group. Several of these times are also in the top times worldwide at the present time, and almost all age-grade between 85 and 90%.
