AM: common fence 5 miler...pub series race #5...2.0 mile warm up...strides...5 miles in 27:59...(~5:05, 10:43, 16:20, 22:10, 27:59)...3rd place overall...1st master...2.5 mile cool down...two major problems today - had the wrong game plan on the wrong day - and had an out...plan was to get out aggressively and try and best my time from 6 years ago (26:41 - which was also a hot day)...wore trainers in an effort to save my legs...out well but by mile 2 i was cooked and wanted nothing more to do with the race...basically went into survival mode...passed by kluz around 3.5 but knew a i had a 12 point buffer in the series...hit the turn around with 3/4 to go and deserved to be put out of my misery by the pack but no one was there to make it happen...shut it down and jogged it in...overall disappointing day...

gawdawful humid and then the sun came out at 10AM. Off behind leaders under control, moved up to eighth after the mile, wilted badly about 1.25, wanted to walk, slowed down instead, used a 13 year old for motivation along with fear of Delaney, stayed upright, hit the turnaround with .75 miles to go and did enough to discourage the chasers. 8th OA 1st 50+

waited for it to get cooler (but also was just super hungover and needed to wait that out). spoiler, it was still extremely hot at 615pm. headed to borderland with my biological parents and decided to do 2 loops of the park from the bay road side. Felt horrible to start and hit the restroom at the nature center, and decided I should do just 1 loop. But then I started to feel good after 20ish minutes so decided to do the full 2 loops and add in 4 x 5min hard effort 1 min off

1.5 wu. Due to meteorological and anatomical conditions, took this one out as a social. At 1.5 spotted Angry Granny and his recently separated shoulder. I pity the mailbox. Picked it up at 2 and ran a tempo. Happy with the result. And, one of the better post race gatherings. The manna beer was outstanding, as the ark of the covenant kept delivering. Amazing. Need to get one of those infinite beer coolers. Loving a club that supports each other. Congrats to the HFC Publicans and their outstanding efforts.
